Flag Day: America’s Flag Day is a day to celebrate the adoption of the first U.S. national flag on June 14, 1777. There are a few potential candidates, including Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam. While statehood for any of these territories is a complex and controversial issue, it’s interesting to consider the possibility as we approach Independence Day in just a few weeks.
