10 Things You Dare Not Forget

July 2nd is I Forgot Day. A holiday that feels less like a celebration and more like a yearly performance review. Because let’s be honest. We’ve all forgotten something important. A birthday. A password. Why we walked into the kitchen. The name of that actor who was definitely in that movie. So in honor of I Forgot Day, I made a list of things you absolutely dare not forget.

1. Your parents’ birthday. (For reasons that include love and a very real fear of disappointment.)

2. Your partner’s birthday. (The survival rates are significantly lower if I forget this one.)

3. Your banking credentials. (Money can’t buy happiness, but forgetting your login can definitely buy stress.)

4. Your Google password. (God bless whoever invented password managers.)

5. People’s names five seconds after they introduce themselves.

6. That every person you meet is carrying a story you know nothing about.

7. How fortunate you are to have people who think about you when you are not in the room.

8. That no matter how chaotic life gets, there is always something worth being grateful for.

9. How much love exists in your life (Not just the love you receive, but the love you’ve been lucky enough to give too.)

10. That the readers of this blog willingly spend a part of their lives here. (This one’s personal for me.)

With time, I’ve realized forgetting isn’t a flaw. It’s part of the great human experience. We forget appointments. Dates. Passwords. Where we parked. But every now and then, we also forget how loved we are. How capable we are. How many people are quietly rooting for us. The good news is that life is surprisingly patient. The important things tend to come back around. So if you’ve forgotten a few things lately, welcome to the club…

This Week, We’re also Celebrating…

Workaholics Day (July 5th)

Happy 250th Birthday To The U S of A!

America’s 250th birthday beckons on the 4th of July. As a kid, I thought the Fourth of July was all about fireworks. And to be fair, giant explosions in the sky are a pretty convincing argument. But the older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve realized the holiday is really about a whole lot more.

It’s about backyard barbecues that somehow feed twice as many people as planned. Neighbors who become friends for an afternoon. Lawn chairs. Paper plates. Kids running around long after sunset. The fireworks may be the headline, but the people have always been the story.

Freedom is a big idea, but it’s often felt in small moments. Thank you for teaching me that every year, “Land of the free. Home of the brave!”

Happy Fourth of July! May your burgers be perfectly grilled, your fireworks be spectacular, your mosquito bites be minimal, and your heart be full of gratitude for the people who make life worth celebrating.

Until next time, take care of yourself and try not to argue with technology. It always wins eventually.. Bob Out!
