Good morning!
Last Saturday I went to a concert with a few close friends. 🎶
About five hundred people were there.
Some were singing every lyric.
Some had their eyes closed.
Some were laughing.
A few were crying.
Many had never met each other before that evening.
Yet for two hours they behaved almost like one family.
On my way home, one question stayed with me.
What exactly brings hundreds of strangers together through music?
Is it simply the melody?
The lyrics?
The shared excitement?
Or music, to a large extent, is perhaps just a journey towards a larger meaning.
Perhaps the music wasn’t the memory.
Perhaps the close friends I was with were the real memory, and the music simply gave it a place to live.
Maybe that’s why hearing a song can suddenly remind us of someone. 🎵
And that made me wonder something else.
If I had attended exactly the same concert…
with different people…
would it have become a different memory?
I think it might have.
Perhaps our happiest moments are shaped less by what happened…
and more by who we witnessed them with.
So today, I’d love to leave you with one question.
Which song immediately brings a particular person into your mind, and why them?
Don’t answer too quickly.
Carry the question with you today.
You may discover that what you miss isn’t the music at all.
It’s the person.
As always, do share your thoughts in the comments section below. I’d love to have my thoughts validated.
Until tomorrow,
Bob
