A Thought For Your Week 💭
This morning, my still half-asleep girlfriend looked me dead in the eye and asked, “Where’s my phone?”
It was in her hand.
Two minutes later, I was crawling under the couch looking for my glasses.
They were sitting on top of my head.
It’s comforting to know we’ve found each other.
We spend half our lives looking for things… and the other half realizing they were right in front of us.
Phones. Glasses. Patience. Good people.
The hardest things to find might just be waiting for us to look in the right place.
On The Calendar… 🗓️
“Some Fences Are Only Head-High”
My buddy Ben was nine the first time he climbed the neighborhood fence. Not because he idolized Evel Knievel. Because our baseball had landed in old Mrs. Carter’s backyard. He stood there for a full minute, convinced she’d come outside furious. Instead, she opened the back door, smiled, and handed him the ball… and threw in two homemade cookies for good measure. Ben still laughs about that day. Says, “the fence looked enormous from one side. And ridiculously small from the other.”
Which reminds me. Tomorrow is Bastille Day, France’s national holiday marking the storming of the Bastille in 1789: a fortress that had become a symbol of fear and oppression. Today, it’s remembered less for the prison itself and more for its aftermath: when ordinary people decided FEAR would not get the final say. Vive le 14 juillet!
Now, most of us won’t storm a fortress this week. But we might finally hit “send.” Apply for that job we’ve been looking at for the past 24 hours. Book that one-way ticket. Say “I love you.” Sometimes the biggest prison isn’t made of stone. It’s made of two words: “What if?” Storm it.
Do you know someone who’s been putting off a leap they know they need to take? Send them a little encouragement today. Courage is contagious, you know?
We’re Also Celebrating
National Nude Day (July 14)
On National Nude Day, wear whatever makes you feel comfortable… even if that’s absolutely nothing.
National Ice-Cream Day (July 19th)
Here’s to sticky fingers, brain freezes, and pretending you were ‘just having one scoop.’ Happy Ice Cream Day!
Birthday Alert! 🎂
The Carpenter Who Couldn’t Quit
Imagine telling someone they’ll become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars… after they’re 35.
Harrison Ford nearly gave up acting more than once. To support his family, he worked as a wood-worker, self-taught, that too. Building cabinets and installing doors for clients around Hollywood. One of those jobs eventually led him to George Lucas: the man who noticed his talent. The rest, as they say, is Hollywood history.
Sometimes Plan B is quietly building Plan A.
Happy 84th Birthday to the guy who keeps showing us that age is just a number, but adventure is a choice. Cheers to the next one.
💌 Borrow These Words…
For The Friend You Haven’t Replied To Yet
You saw their message. You meant to reply after lunch. Then after work. Then tomorrow.
Now it’s been twelve days, and replying somehow feels more awkward than climbing Mt. Everest.
Borrow these words:
“At this point, I feel like I owe you an apology, a coffee, and probably interest on this late reply. 😂 How are you?”
Silence gets heavier the longer we carry it.
☀️ Before Summer Gets Away… (Rotating Section Based on Categories)
There are two kinds of summer friends. The ones you actually make plans with…
…and the ones who keep saying, “We have to catch up this summer.”
Then suddenly it’s September. The barbecue never happened. The beach trip stayed in the group chat. And “we should do this soon” quietly becomes “we really should’ve.”
So here’s your reminder. Summer isn’t a season. It’s a deadline.
If someone’s been on your mind, send them a little sunshine today.
🍀Bob’s Bet…
(One prediction. Zero refunds)
Before next Sunday…
You’re going to open the refrigerator…
…stare into it for a full ten seconds…
…and close it without taking a single thing.
Then you’ll reopen it thirty seconds later like the snacks had time to reproduce.
When it happens. Don’t blame yourself. Blame Tuesday.
Alright, off you go… Until next Sunday… take care of yourself, and someone else if you can. Bob out!
