Shell Yeah: The Food That’s Quietly Been Carrying Humanity Since Forever

Every egg wakes up with absolutely no clue what its future holds. It could become a luxurious cheese omelette at a five-star brunch spot. It could get hard-boiled and carried around in a gym bro’s backpack beside six almonds and a dream. Another gets dropped by me directly into the sink while I stare at the mess and say, “Well… omelet that slide.”

Honestly, humans aren’t all that different. Every egg starts its day the same way we do: absolutely no clue what it’s about to become. Maybe it turns into a beautiful brunch. Maybe it collapses halfway through and still somehow works out fine with enough cheese and confidence. That feels weirdly comforting, actually. Maybe that’s why eggs have survived every food trend humanity has thrown at them. Keto, paleo, high-protein, low-carb, “clean eating”… the egg just quietly nods and says, “I’ve been here the whole time, sweetheart. I’ve seen it all” Reliable. Versatile. Comforting.

So here’s to the humble egg. The original protein powerhouse. The oval of opportunity. May we all keep showing up, keep cracking on, and trust that even messy mornings can still turn into the breakfast of champions

Happy National Egg Day.

This Week, We’re also Celebrating…

World Milk Day (June 1)
A special shoutout to everyone who still drinks a cold glass of milk at night; your bones will thank you!

National Cheese Day (June 4)
This is a holy day. Because I firmly believe there is no problem in human history that cannot be slightly improved by adding melted cheese to it. Go eat some.

World Environment Day (June 5)
Happy World Environment Day. Please be nice to the planet. She is like that one friend who keeps giving while we forget to text back.

National Doughnut Day (June 5)
To dissolve all corporate tension and make your colleagues instantly love you, show up with a pink-frosted dozen. It works every single time.

National Chocolate Ice Cream Day (June 7)

National Chocolate Ice Cream Day: because adulthood is hard and cocoa exists for a reason.

To Graduation Season: Pride, Tears, and New Streaming Bills

There is a specific, heavy kind of quiet that settles over a house right before graduation. Yesterday, I was talking to a buddy whose oldest daughter is walking across the stage this week. He was sitting at his kitchen table, staring blankly at her velvet graduation gown. And he told me, “Bob, I swear I just dropped her off at her first day of kindergarten yesterday. She was wearing a backpack that was literally bigger than she was. Now, she’s ready to conquer the world.” That is the bittersweet magic of graduation season. It is the exact moment you realize the little kid who used to need help tying their shoes is suddenly a sovereign nation. It’s an incredibly delicate mix of immense, bursting pride and the quiet heartbreak of letting go. You are watching a childhood chapter slam shut, while desperately cheering for the next one to begin.

Of course, it’s also the exact moment they realize they have to start paying for their own streaming subscriptions, so the panic goes both ways, I guess. To all the graduates and the incredibly proud families standing behind them this week: congratulations. You earned every single bit of this moment.

And speaking of life moving faster than we’re emotionally prepared for… sometimes the hardest part isn’t feeling something. It’s figuring out how to put it into words without sounding like a robot. So if you’ve ever stared blankly at a card and thought, “I have emotions, but apparently no vocabulary for this,” we may have something just for you: Message board.

Until next time! Be kind to yourself this week. You’re doing a lot better than you think you are. Catch you in the next one. Bob out!
